LYNYRD SKYNYRD: A Future Cult Classic?

Street Survivors, the film about the 1977 plane crash that claimed the lived of three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, had its premiere Sunday night at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Based on drummer Artimus Pyle's experiences that day, he says the film will become a "cult classic.”

“It was my story, and I didn't realize it was going to be my story,” Pyle tells The Metal Voice. “I thought it was going to be more general, but it was basically focused on what happened to me... I think the movie is going to be a cult classic. … There is also humor and sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll. That's the way it was in the ‘60s and ‘70s.”

Street Survivors will hit theaters before a home-video and soundtrack are released on June 30th.
