R.I.P. Tommy “Tiny” Lister

Just when you think 2020 has taken everything it possibly could, we get word that Tommy “Tiny” Lister has died. The 62-year-old was found unconscious in his apartment in Marina Del Rey, California. Sources say that he wasn’t taken to the hospital because he was pronounced dead on the scene. While the official cause of death isn’t known, his manager said that he’d been displaying symptoms of COVID-19 in recent days.

Tiny – who was anything but at six-five – started playing bad guy bullies in the 1980s. He had two had two pro wrestling stint and starred alongside Hulk Hogan in as Zeus in “No Holds Barred.” However, he was best known for playing Deebo in “Friday” and “Next Friday.” He also appeared in “The Fifth Element” and “The Dark Knight,” and voiced the Finnick character in “Zootopia.”

The Compton, California native is survived by a daughter. Naturally, the tributes are pouring in from all corners of social media. The late John Witherspoon’s son, JD ,said, “Rest in peace, Tiny Lister. My dad always enjoyed working with you. Tale care of each other up there.” Meanwhile, Armie Hammer weighed in with, “Even #Deebo couldn’t scare away 2020. [Screw] that. I’m watching ‘Friday’ tonight in his honor.
