Once Again, Labrador Retriever Is America’s Most Popular Dog

  • For the 30th year in a row, the Labrador Retriever tops the American Kennel Club’s list of America’s most popular dog.
  • It isn’t much of a surprise the Lab earns the top spot, since it’s considered a family friendly pooch, with an eager-to-please temperament.
  • But while the top spot remains unchanged, there was a bit of a shakeup in the Top Five, with the French Bulldog jumping from four last year to take the number two position, knocking the German Shepard down to three.
  • That’s big considering the German Shepard has been at number two since 2009.
  • Another change this year, the Dachshund is at 10, its first time in the Top 10 in seven years.
