COVID Blamed For Surge In Demonic Possessions

The Catholic Church is building an exorcism center in the Philippines after a surge of claimed demonic possessions since the pandemic. The center has a chapel and rooms for counseling, exorcisms, and interviews. Father Jose Francisco Syquia, the chief exorcist, says he gets about 10 reports a day of spiritual disturbances.

Father Syquia says ‘full possession’ only makes up about 20 percent of all exorcisms, with the majority being performed on people who are being ‘harassed physically’ by evil spirits. He believes that witchcraft and unhealthy home lives can be contributing factors in possessions.
