Scientists Capture Aerosol Plumes From Flushing Toilets On Video

It seems like shutting the lid to a toilet before flushing it would be common sense, but now we’ve got video proof as to why you should. Scientist put their super-slow-motion camera skills to work to video the phenomenon known as “toilet plumes.” Those are the droplets of toilet water, and whatever is residing in it, that sprays up into the air as the toilet flushes. In some cases, they found the potty plumes reaching as high as almost five-feet, with a velocity of 6.6-feet, within eight-seconds of the flush. It should make more clear than ever how important it is to wash your hands after you drop your load.
