Slayer guitarist Kerry King says he’s still angry over what he calls the “premature” breakup of the band following their 2019 farewell tour. He tells Metal Hammer that he calls it premature because his childhood heroes “are still playing,” and that he “can still play” and wants to play, but “that livelihood got taken away” from him. Slayer never explained exactly why they broke up, although the death of the band’s other founding guitarist Jeff Hanneman in 2013 was obviously a major factor.
