Peppers Cover Hendrix, Allmans

Red Hot Chili Peppers busted out a couple of covers as part of their brief set at Flea's Silverlake Conservatory of Music benefit Saturday night.

They opened with a cover of "Ramblin' Man" by the Allman Brothers Band and closed with "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix. Check out videos of both on YouTube.

Doing Hendrix covers is nothing new for the Peppers -- they did "Fire" on their 1989 album Mother's Milk, and its 2003 reissue has live takes of "Castles Made of Sand" and "Crosstown Traffic."
