Following a series of mass shootings and criticism from President Trump, Universal has pulled the release of The Hunt.
The movie reportedly follows a group of liberal elites hunting "deplorables" for sport. The president blasted the flick on Twitter Friday, saying it was "made to inflame and cause chaos."
On Saturday, Universal released a statement, saying, "We stand by our filmmakers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release this film."
Even before Trump's Twitter rant, the marketing of the film had been put on pause following the shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
The Hunt, starring Betty Gilpin, Emma Roberts and Hilary Swank, was set to hit theaters on September 27th.
