Brian May Expects To Start "Running Around" Onstage Again After Leg Surgery

Queen guitarist Brian May says a recent surgical procedure to relieve tension in his Achilles tendon was a success.

May recently shared a photo of himself giving the thumbs up from a hospital bed, announcing that he's "feeling good" as he begins his recovery.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer revealed in the post that adrenaline was just about the only thing keeping him going through Queen + Adam Lambert's last U.S. tour while he dealt with nagging pain in his heel, stemming from tension in his Achilles tendon.

"...[A]lthough adrenaline got me through, my running around was severely curtained, and there were a couple of night when I really couldn't move at all around the stage (nobody noticed, it seems!)," May writes. "So now I'll be taking it easy just a bit for a while, but full recovery should be just in time for getting back out on tour in January — hopefully with a good pair of heels."

A "snip" to May's calf muscle will supposedly release the excess tension and allow the doctor of astrophysics to get back onstage this winter. Queen + Adam Lambert's 'Rhapsody' tour will visit Asia, Australia and New Zealand beginning in mid-January.

May added his thanks to fans and friends for their well-wishes and added that he didn't mean to cause any alarm with a photo from a hospital bed.

In a subsequent video post, May wiggled his feet for the camera to show that "everything still works." He explained that he was spending the day at home relaxing. Though he can walk, he added that "stairs are a bit of a challenge!"
