Ty Anthony Sage, a 26-year-old murder suspect, was re-arrested on Thursday (September 25) after being mistakenly released from the Multnomah County Detention Center earlier in the week. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, apprehended Sage at a gas station off Highway 101 in Florence, Oregon.

Sage was initially arrested in May for the alleged murder of 15-year-old Lowgunn Ivey, related to a gun and drug deal. He faced charges of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery. Despite being denied bail, Sage was mistakenly allowed to post a $5,000 bail and was released on Monday (September 22), prompting a multi-day manhunt.

Multnomah County Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O'Donnell expressed regret over the incident, stating, "This should not have happened." She assured the public that the sheriff's office is reviewing the incident to prevent future mistakes and to restore community trust. The sheriff emphasized that employees acted in good faith based on the information available at the time.

Sage's release was due to a misinterpretation of a court order, which is now under investigation. Sheriff Morrisey O'Donnell has committed to learning from this error and improving processes. Sage is now being held without bail, and the investigation into the mistaken release continues.
