How old were you when you saw your first Horror movie? I know how old I was and the memory is still with me today. My older brother Mike, and younger sister Julie convinced (wasn't too hard) my parents to let us watch The Return Of The Living Dead. Not the scariest movie in the world, but for little kids it did the job.
So I saw a survey that said 65% of Americans saw their first horror flick before they turned 11, and 68% said they enjoyed watching scary movies as kids. The survey of 2,000 adults also found that 71% of respondents are likely to snack while watching a horror film. In fact, 34% of “gore hounds”. I don't think this is far off at all. I remember watching all the Halloween movies, Nightmare on Elm Street, and now I love to watch what new stuff they come up with in movies like Terrifier (can't wait for Friday when part 3 comes out BTW ha)
Some people may think it's bad to let kids watch these movies. But it does teach them things, not how to hack someone up, but there is always a lesson. Remember, it's a chance to get your family together, like mine did back in the day, and celebrate Halloween with movies, candy, traditions and more. So have fun this season. Kids won't be kids long, and you might as well have the good memories to live forever.
