More Than A Third Of Moms Had To Make Their Own Mother’s Day Reservation

Have you made your Mother’s Day reservations yet? While you still have a couple of weeks to finalize your plans, it seems a lot of people have dropped the ball in the past. According to new research from OpenTable, 39% of moms have had to book their own meal to celebrate their special holiday.

According to their Mother’s Day trends report:

  • Half of Americans are planning to dine at a restaurant to celebrate Mother’s Day this year, but that doesn’t mean they’ve already made reservations.
  • Nearly a third (29%) of Ameircans admit to panic booking a restaurant within 24 hours of Mother’s Day.
  • Moms really want to take a backseat when it comes to planning, as 44% say having someone else take the lead on decisions for Mother’s Day would make the day the most special.
  • Dining early is the way to go, with 46% of moms sharing that they want to start celebrations early to maximize relaxation time during the day.
  • Brunch is always a popular choice and 73% of moms want to celebrate Mother’s Day with a family brunch.
  • But two-thirds (66%) of people plan to celebrate multiple times over the holiday weekend.
  • And 30% of moms are considering dining out solo as one of their celebrations for a little “me time.”
  • The one thing moms want most for a perfect Mother’s Day meal out is a waterfront or scenic view (64%), while 51% would enjoy a chef’s tasting menu.
