For many Americans, this is the time of year they pack a bag and take a much-needed trip and a new survey reveals what their ideal getaway looks like.
According to Go City’s poll of 2-thousand U.S. travelers, 60% say the “perfect” vacation can be found within the U.S. and they have some specific ideas about what it would include:
- The perfect vacation would last 11 days and be at least three hours from home.
- While a long weekend is enough for some, 71% need more time to enjoy it.
- The perfect trip would also focus on food (52%), relaxation (47%), good weather (34%), accommodations (38%) and outdoor attractions and landmarks (31%).
- As for the destination, 63% want to go to the beach, 53% would choose the great outdoors, 43% prefer a major city, and 42% like historic locations best.
- To truly be “perfect,” a vacation needs to include time to relax and recuperate (67%), create meaningful moments (63%)
- There’s not a lot of room for error, as 92% say if one thing goes wrong, it’s enough to ruin everything else.
- Top vacation spoilers include unexpected costs/hidden fees (45%), flight delays or lost luggage (44%), bad weather (41%), disappointing food (34%) and an uncomfortable bed (31%).
- But 88% would be willing to give some things up if it meant they would get a “perfect” vacation. They’d trade having a direct flight (15%), sleeping in (14%), having their preferred seat on a plane (11%) and an extra day of paid-time off work (9%) to guarantee that “perfect” trip.
