Some things are definitely better as an adult, but when it comes to holidays, kids have a clear advantage. At some point, Santa doesn’t come down your chimney anymore and the Easter Bunny stops delivering those candy-filled baskets to you and it can hit you unexpectedly hard.
According to a new survey of 2-thousand adults, more than half admit they felt “gutted” after realizing they’d received their last chocolate egg from their parents. And for 22%, this was the moment they realized they were “officially a grown-up.”
- Over half (58%) say they weren’t warned the holiday candy delivery was coming to an end, instead “it just stopped” one year.
- A lucky 15% still get Easter sweets and treats from their parents, and 57% of them say they’d be disappointed if they stopped getting them. A third of those would be annoyed in secret, but 24% would openly complain about it.
- Nearly three-quarters (72%) believe you’re never too old to celebrate Easter with chocolate.
- But 27% of adults who’ve moved out of their parents’ home say they don’t bother with Easter eggs anymore.
What people miss most about Easter now that they’re older:
- Waking up to chocolate on Easter morning
- Easter egg hunts
- Being bought Easter eggs without thinking about it
- Easter feeling more exciting than it does now
- Easter feeling more special and magical
- Family traditions around Easter
- Spending the whole weekend with family
- Time off feeling more relaxing
- Having fewer responsibilities at Easter
- Getting together without worrying about work
