Jack Osbourne is recalling the moment he first learned about the death of his father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.

In an emotional new video shared on YouTube on Wednesday (September 3), Jack tearfully described being woken up in the middle of the night and immediately knowing that he was about to receive bad news, per People.

"I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock on my house door at around 3:45 in the morning," he said. "Someone who has worked for my family for probably 30 years was knocking on my door, and when I looked through my window and I saw it was him, I just knew something bad had happened. I was informed that my father had passed."

While he felt "sadness" and "pain" after learning of his father's death, Jack also recalled thinking how Ozzy was "not suffering anymore." The former Black Sabbath frontman passed away July 22 at the age of 76, weeks after his final performance. Jack said that while fans may have seen his father having a "rough go" while performing at the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, England, on July 5, his death still came as a shock.

"I wish he was still here. I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go and I think people saw that at the show," he said. "No one expected it to happen as quickly as it did and when it did. It was not anything that was on our radar."

Jack also explained how the support and love from fans and friends has been "overwhelming" to witness.

"That's something that has been really unique about this experience is, as overwhelming as it can be, with the outpour of love and people reaching out, it's also been really validating, because I know... my dad was a special guy," he said, adding, "He meant a lot to a lot of people. He was loved so much. A lot of people are going to miss him."

Last month, Jack's sister Kelly Osbourne shared her own emotional post telling fans that she "will not be OK for a while" as she continues to mourn the loss of her father.
