Vanilla Fudge will release a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" on September 22nd.
Keyboardist Mark Stein says, "'Immigrant Song' is one of the monster tracks of all time. How do you top that? Well, you can't, but we decided to just have fun with it... [Drummer] Carmine [Appice] did a great job with the drum track and [bassist] Tim [Bogert] and [guitarist] Vince [Martell] killed it. I did the vocals in Florida and sent it back to Carmine in Los Angeles and he mixed it. Hope you dig it."
The Fudge originally did the song on their 2007 Zeppelin covers album, Out Through the In Door. The two bands go way back -- Zeppelin's first U.S. tour in 1968 had them opening for the Fudge.
This release celebrates the Fudge's new recording contract with Golden Robot Records and next year's album,The Supreme Vanilla Fudge, in which they cover 10 songs by The Supremes. They had a Top 10 hit in 1967 with their cover of The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On."
