The film, which opens in theaters and video-on-demand on November 25th, is directed by Gabriel Range and stars English actor and singer Johnny Flynn as Bowie,Jena Malone as his first wife Angie and Marc Maron as Bowie's first American promotion man, Ron Oberman. The first video from the film came in the form of a single scene teaser back in April, this one covers the entire movie, which is said to mostly cover Bowie's first trip to America, when he was virtually unknown here.
Stardust has been made without the permission of his estate and contains none of his music. His son, director Duncan Jones, tweeted nearly two years ago, "If you want to see a biopic without his music or the families (sic) blessing, that's up to the audience."
Fan reaction to the trailer has tended to be negative, as well, with one viewer writing on YouTube, "He doesn't look like him, sound like him, behave like him.....Bowie wasn't this introspective, worried, miserable character...he was self-aware, very funny, intelligent and always on the make. That is not the guy I'm seeing in this trailer."
