Fans won’t be seeing Marilyn Manson in CBS All Access’ adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand,” after all. Director Josh Boone has revealed in a new interview that they had to cut Marilyn’s small role in the show due to their tight budget.
The rocker was set to play “The Kid,” who makes a brief but memorable appearance in the original book. But Boone says the budget of the show was so tight that “some of the dreams we had went to the wayside”... including Marilyn’s cameo, and the Doors cover he recorded with Shooter Jennings for the show.
“He and the great Shooter Jennings even recorded a killer cover of The Doors song, 'The End,' that ultimately proved too expensive to use,” he explains. “When Manson wasn't able to make it work schedule-wise, the storyline was ultimately excised and never shot, which is for the best, as no one could have slayed that role like Manson would have.”
