Flaming Lips announced “the world’s first Space Bubble concert. The socially-distant live events were set to take place in their hometown of Oklahoma City this month… but now it’s been postponed to the end of January.
Frontman Wayne Coyne has broken the news in a new interview, explaining that coronavirus cases started to rise in Oklahoma over the past week… the state averaging close to 3,000 new cases per day. Considering the situation is becoming “worse than it’s ever been,” Wayne says the band decided to take the mayor’s advice not to “get together in big groups” – even if Space Bubbles are involved.
As of now, the shows have been postponed to January 22nd and 23rd. Wayne still thinks the show is “safer than going to the grocery store,” but the band thinks it’s worth it to wait until after the holidays when travel will be safer for fans.
