Larry Flynt, the publisher and founder of Hustler magazine, has died at 78.
Sources tell TMZ the controversial pornographer died Wednesday morning in Los Angeles from heart failure.
Flynt launched Hustler magazine in 1974. His freedom-of-speech battles were documented in the 1996 film The People vs. Larry Flynt, starring Woody Harrelson and Courtney Love.
In 1978, Flynt was shot by serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin and paralyzed.
He even tried his hand at politics, running for president in 1984 and for Governor of California in 2003.
