Space travel is becoming more commonplace, and nothing proves that more than the fact that a new reality show will be taking MMA fighters into orbit to battle it out in zero gravity. A new production company called Space 11 is gathering 40 mixed martial artists from around the world to compete for 12 months in specially designed training facility. The training and conditioning programs will copy those used in astronaut training.
The plan is space fighting. The Space 11 team includes ex-SpaceX employees, astrophysicists, and astronomers, so they have the know-how to make this a reality. The show is already in pre-production with plans to start airing in 2023.
It’s not going to look like space fighting in movies, either. The team says that fighting in zero gravity is a “totally different way to punch someone.” No matter what, the crew expects it to be “can’t miss TV."
