When a doctor does a colonoscopy, there are things they expect to find, things they hope not to find...and then there’s this. During an otherwise routine exam, Dr. Keith Siau made a discovery that was a first. Somehow, the 59-year-old man he probing had a live ladybug roaming the walls of his colon. Doctors think the colon prep solution the patient drank prior to the procedure helped the insect escape the deadly enzymes normally found in the stomach, so that it could make its way down the large intestine. It’s not known what happened to the stomach bug once it was freed from its colonic cell.
