Robby Krieger says if you plan to trip on acid, there's two songs by The Doors that he recommends.
Rob admits that “Light My Fire” and “The End," were his go-to's while on the hallucinogenic, and tells Vulture, "The whole deal was that when we recorded that song ["The End"], Jim[Morrison] was on a huge dose of acid and he had an Oedipus complex."
When discussing how the single became a hit, he adds, "He was really dealing with that at the time. Shortly before we recorded it, he came up with that [line] about [messing with] the mother and killing the father. That part got put into the song a couple weeks earlier when we were playing at the Whiskey [in West Hollywood]. That’s just a really acidy song. Especially to me, because I know Jim was so messed up that night on acid."
Krieger's memoir, Set the Night on Fire: Living, Dying, and Playing Guitar with The Doors, will be published on October 12th.
