Dr. Johnny Fever has left the building. Howard Hesseman has died. The 81-year-old succumbed to complications from a colon surgery  he had last summer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles on Saturday.

Howard was best known for playing the iconic radio DJ on “WKRP in Cincinnati.” He received two Emmy nominations for the show, which ran from 1978 to 1982. He also appeared on “Head of the Class” from 1986 to 1991 and host of other TV shows and movies.

The actor and comedian is survived by his wife of 32 years, Caroline Ducrocq. But he was loved across the industry, as evidenced the reactions from Hollywood and beyond.
