A new study found that gray hair might actually be reversible.
Researchers at New York University found that certain stem cells that are responsible for producing hair pigment can become "stuck" in hair follicles as we age. When these cells get stuck, they can't produce pigment, which leads to gray hair. But the scientists think there is a way to "unstick" these cells – and reverse or prevent graying.
More research is needed, but the breakthrough has the scientists optimistic and thinking that hair could be turned back to its original color.
