A flash flood swept through the mountain resort town of Ruidoso, New Mexico yesterday, killing at least three people including a 4-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy. There is also an unknown number of injuries
Heavy, slow-moving storms dumped rain over wildfire burn scars from last year, triggering fast-moving floodwaters that left residents trapped and prompted dozens of water rescues. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood emergency for the area at 3 p.m. urging residents to seek higher ground. But the Rio Ruidoso reached a historic crest of over 20 feet, sending a wall of water rushing into town. (NBC News)
