Megadeth is packing it in with one final album and tour.
The band made the announcement with a video using its longtime mascot Vic Rattlehead, which you can watch on Instagram.
Frontman Dave Mustaine followed that up with a statement that said, "There's so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional. Most of them don't get to go out on their own terms on top, and that's where I'm at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them."
The new album is set for release early next year with the first single due out at the end of next month. The band is expected to be on the road for most of 2026.
Mustaine launched Megadeth in 1983 after getting fired from Metallica and has kept it going since then except for a brief breakup from 2002 to 2004. The band has released 16 albums so far.
