Here's one whale of a tale. The driver of a metro train in the Netherlands is a very, very lucky man after he and his train were saved by a whale's tail.
Incredible images show that a sculpture of a whale's tail that stopped the train from a nasty fall after the otherwise empty train broke through a barrier at the end of the tracks near Rotterdam. Had it not been for the whale's tail, the train would have plunged more than 30 feet into the water below.
The driver was able to escape on his own, and authorities were still figuring out how to get the train back on the ground. The sculpture, erected about 20 years ago, is called Whale Tails. The architect who designed the sculpture was surprised it was so strong.
