Actress and director Penny Marshall died of complications of diabetes Monday at her home in Hollywood Hills, California. She was 75.
Marshall first rose to fame on the sitcom Laverne and Shirley but had even more success as a movie director, directing such hits as Big and A League of Their Own -- in which she cast her TV producer and film director brother Garry Marshall.
Her most recent on-screen work was in an episode of the rebooted sitcom The Odd Couple.
A onetime paramour of singer-actor Art Garfunkel, she was twice married and leaves behind daughter Tracy Reiner, whose biological father was Michael Henry but who was adopted by Penny's second husband, Rob Reiner. (TMZ)
